Matthews, Carter & Boyce’s MCB Cares: ‘Tis the Season

Matthews, Carter & Boyce’s “MCB Cares” initiative supports philanthropic activities year-round, volunteering with a variety of nonprofit organizations in our community, but this time of year our efforts ramp up even more. In the fall, we joined with Food for Others to package non-perishable food packs for delivery to school age children who do not have adequate food at home over the weekends. Food for Others distributes more than 1,400 of these packages every single week throughout the school year; there is an enormous need for volunteers to assist with packing. The MCB Cares team met and helped package more than 600 meals in one afternoon!

Also in the fall, the MCB Cares team participated in “Treats for Troops,” collecting leftover Halloween candy for Soldiers’ Angels. Soldiers’ Angels is a national organization that supports Veterans, deployed and wounded soldiers along with their families. Our team also held a Fall Festival BBQ at the Katherine Hanley Shelter in October, where we cooked for the families and provided special fall treats for the children.

Every December, MCB participates in the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, "adopting" angels and purchasing new items as Christmas gifts. Many families turn to The Salvation Army for help this time of year, to ensure their children have toys and clothes to open on Christmas morning.
