Transurban contributes $25,000 to Northern Virginia Family Services and Matched contributions up to another $10,000 as part of Giving Tuesday Now

Transurban, the operator of the 95, 495, and 395 Express Lanes, raised more than $50,000 for Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) through their #GivingTuesdayNow campaign. #GivingTuesdayNow, held on May 5th, was a global day of action and giving in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. In support of NVFS, Transurban made a $25,000 contribution and offered to match another $10,000 in contributions. Transurban’s employees, customers, and partners generously contributed another $16,450 to NVFS!

NVFS has supported Northern Virginia communities in need for nearly 100 years. They will use the funds to provide support to children, families, and individuals thrown into crisis because of COVID-19. Those in need can receive assistance with rent payments, medical co-pays, child care, and other unexpected emergency expenses. NVFS also continues operating their general programs and services – including their family shelter and Hunger Resource Center; virtual Training Futures, legal and mental health services; and distributing diapers, food and other goods to families in need.

“We are honored to partner with Transurban for Giving Tuesday Now,” said Stephanie Berkowitz, President and CEO of Northern Virginia Family Service. “Together, we harnessed the incredibly philanthropic spirit of this community to meet the urgent needs of our neighbors today and in the months ahead.”

“We’re all feeling the effects of the COVID-19 crisis, and many of us are looking for ways to help, said Christian Deschauer, Transurban Director of Public Affairs for North America, “NVFS inspired us to take action, we’re pleased to make this contribution and grateful to all of Transurban’s employees, customers, and partners who joined the effort.”
