Capital One’s 25-year support of The Capital Area Food Bank through training, donations, and employee volunteers

The Capital Area Food Bank serves as the backbone of the region’s hunger relief infrastructure, supplying nearly 400 regional organizations with the food to provide over 50 million meals each year. Its mission is to create more equitable access to food and opportunity through community partnerships, and one of those partners, Capital One, has supported the work of the food bank for over 25 years. In that time, they have contributed more than $2.2M, supporting child hunger programs. Capital One also stepped up in response to the unprecedented need resulting from the economic impacts of COVID-19, supporting the food bank’s distribution of over 76 million meals during the height of the pandemic.

Most recently, Capital One invested in CAFB's work to analyze government benefits utilization rates for nutrition programs like SNAP, and supported its 2022-2023 Client Leadership Council, an advocacy training program that amplifies the voices of the individuals the food bank serves. Beyond their critical financial support, Capital One employees are always ready to roll up their sleeves in our warehouse, volunteering thousands of hours over the course of its partnership with CAFB, logging nearly 100 hours so far in 2023!
