Fitness Is Possible for All with New Wellness Park from Kaiser Permanente

On Saturday, June 4th, Prince William County officials and community members joined Kaiser Permanente leaders to celebrate the opening of the long-awaited Harbor Drive Wellness Park, located off Minnieville Road in Lake Ridge, Virginia. Sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, it is the first dedicated wellness park in the Occoquan historic district and provides residents with universal fitness equipment accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities.

Situated on 2.5 beautiful acres, the Harbor Drive Wellness Park includes the county's first fully accessible playground, meadows, a pollinator garden, and a looped walking trail. The park, converted from an underutilized community parking lot, is connected to Kaiser Permanente's new Caton Hill Medical Center, opening in September 2022 and located off Caton Hill Road, via a 1.4-mile multi-use pedestrian trail.

One-Day Event Provides School Physicals and Immunizations for 50 Afghan Refugees

On Saturday, March 19, 2022, Kaiser Permanente served over 50 Afghan refugee children by providing school physicals and immunizations necessary to enroll in Fairfax County Public Schools.

Kaiser Permanente has long-standing relationships with community-based partners who serve many human service needs—including providing support for refugees and immigrants. In response to requests from our partners in Northern Virginia to address the immediate health access needs of recently resettled Afghan refugee families, Kaiser Permanente Community Health, in partnership with the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) and Medicaid, hosted a one-day event at our Falls Church Medical Center.

Kaiser Permanente would like to acknowledge Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center for its leadership and coordination between service providers to preregister children, provide interpretation services, and provide follow-up support to families who attended the event.
